so last night lisa and i made the journey to the camden waterfront, to the susquehanna bank center to see radiohead. the opening band, grizzly bear, took the stage at around 730. i had seen grizzly bear open for tv on the radio last year, and to say the least i was not impressed. something seems to have happened to this band, though, and their set was polished and completely enjoyable. i did realize, though, as i took this picture, that my camera sucks when it comes to taking pictures at night or at long range.
the stadium began to fill up about half way through grizzly bear's set, and i patiently sipped my 12 dollar lager.
as grizzly bear's set ended people were literally pouring into the stadium. grizzly bear exited the stage by singing my new favorite song, "while you wait for the others", and the lead singer said, "prepare to have your minds blown." he was so fucking right. this is the scene to my left. it was insane.

as radiohead took the stage and people went batshit, the opening chords of "15 steps" igniting a huge roar, some short pudgy guy stood beside me and lit a joint. he took two puffs, asked me if i smoked, and when i said yes, he handed me the joint and walked away. this was going to be a great night, radiohead and free weed. i was excited.

the stage was backed by a large lcd laser display, changing colors frequently. the screens displaying the band memebers were also done in an awesome way, split into four blocks, each of which captured each band member's performance.

you know, thom yorke may be a pretentious dickhead, but the guy puts on a dizzying performance. dancing, gyrating, you can tell he is into the music and his voice, my god his voice was pitch perfect. i was amazed.

i believe my favorite song of the night was "idioteque." as i captured this with the video recorder on my camera, i realized i should have just shot the whole concert in video.
in all, this was my favorite concert of all time. besides the fact that i got to attend with my wonderful girlfriend, i finally got to see radiohead live. i strongly suggest anyone who even remotely enjoys this band make an effort to see then live.
now, if neutral milk hotel would just reunite and play a show, i will be content.
